GREENSBORO, N.C.– UNC Greensboro’s volleyball team (9-9, 3-3 Southern Conference) will finish the first half of its SoCon schedule this weekend when it faces Furman (7-11, 3-4 SoCon) on Friday at 7 p.m. and Wofford (9-11, 2-5 SoCon) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Both games will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network.
The Spartans In 2018
In the Spartans' last appearance on the court, UNCG was unable to score a victory over ETSU on Oct. 3, falling 3-0 (25-27, 20-25, 17-25). Sophomore outside hitter Maria Esch led the team with a match-high 12 kills, while Allison Penner leds the way in assists with 33. Freshman defensive specialist Stephanie Meysembourg, meanwhile, led the team with 14 digs.
Throughout the entire season to date, sophomore outside hitter Holly Behrends leads the team with 2.84 kills per set, while junior outside hitter Emily Keilen is averaging 2.55 kills per set as well. Additionally, Penner leads the team with 7.73 assists per set and sophomore setter Giana Rasmussen adds 3.97 assists per set.
Defensively, senior libero Christina Gregory leads the team with 4.12 digs per set.
A Look At Furman
Furman has won three of its last four matches, including a 3-0 win at Wofford this past Wednesday. The Paladins are led by Carris Campbell with 2.56 kills per set. Other statistical leaders include Hunter Thompson (10.40 assists per set) and Meg BeMaar (4.69 digs per set).
A Look At Wofford
Wofford has lost its last three matches after going 2-2 in the conference through the first four games conference games. The Terriers are led by Catie Cronister with 3.31 kills per set, Lorissa King with 5.79 assists per set and Taylor Gill with 5.19 digs per set.
The Spartans start the second half of the SoCon schedule with a three-match homestand beginning with Mercer on Friday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. and The Citadel on Saturday at 5 p.m.
