GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG volleyball head coach Corey Carlin has announced dates for several different camps this summer. Camps include multiple general skills camps, advanced skills camps, an elite camp, a three day all-skills camp, a one day all-skills camp, half-day camps that specialize in serving and passing, defense/libero play, setting, and hitting, and two new camp sessions that include a little Spartans camp and a college prep camp. Little Spartans Half-Day Camp - $100, includes shirt - June 11th-13th - Grades 1st -3rd
This camp is designed to introduce concepts and skills for the very young volleyball enthusiast. Skills will be taught through various age appropriate techniques which simulate the movements and patterns that lead to learning this fast paced game. Lightweight volleyballs & lower nets will be used. No previous experience is necessary. Camp sessions run from 9am - 12pm. Both girls and boys are welcome!
All-Skills Camp - $265, includes shirt and lunches provided – June 11th-13th - Grades 4-12
Designed for players of all ability levels with the primary focus on training the fundamental skills of the game including passing, setting, attacking, serving, blocking and defense. Team concepts and competition will also be covered. Campers will be divided by skill level and placed in groups where they can develop appropriately. This camp provides six sessions over the three-day period and is for commuters only. There will be no overnight accommodations. Girls only.
General Skills Camps - $265, includes shirt and lunches provided – July 9th-11th & July 16th-18th – Grades 4-12
These camps are meant to teach and train all of the fundamental skills needed to play the sport of volleyball effectively for beginning players or experienced players looking to further polish their fundamentals. The goal of these camps is that all participants will gain a clear understanding of how to execute each of the skills needed to enhance their game. These camps provide six sessions over the three-day period and are for commuters only. There will be no overnight accommodations.
Advanced Skills Camps - $265, includes shirt and lunches provided – July 9th-11th & July 16th-18th – Grades 8-12
Designed for players that already have a solid foundation of basic volleyball skills and fundamentals and are looking to learn the finer techniques and concepts of playing the game at a higher level. Although some basic techniques and skills will be reviewed, these sessions are geared for players that have high school varsity and/or multiple years of club volleyball experience and are very confident in their playing ability. Campers will be divided by skill level and placed in groups where they can develop appropriately. These camps provide six sessions over the three-day period and are for commuters only. There will be no overnight accommodations.
Half Day Camps - $50 per camp, includes shirt – July 12th and 13th – 4th-12th grades
Six different half day camps will be offered over the two-day span. Both the serving and passing camp and advanced ball control camp will be from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on July 12th. The basic and advanced setting half day camps are from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., July 13th. The basic and advanced attacking half-day camps will be 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., July 13th.
All-Skills Day Camp - $100, includes shirt – July 14th – Grades 4th-12th
The All-Skills Day Camp covers all of the skills needed to play the sport of volleyball effectively. During the one session on July 14th, campers will train in all major aspects of the game ranging from fundamentals to competition. The camp is for commuters only. Lunch will be provided. To be sure that each camper can train at their appropriate pace, campers will be grouped for training purposes based on any or all of the following criteria: experience level, age and/or skill efficiency.
Elite Camp - $265, includes shirt and lunches provided– July 16th-18th – Grades 8-12
This is one of the highest-level camps that is offered and is intended for more experienced players looking to take their game to the next level. This camp is not intended for beginning or less experienced players. Several of the training methods and drills will be extremely similar to what college-level teams do in their practice sessions. This camp provides six sessions over the three-day period and is for commuters only. There will be no overnight accommodations.
College Prep Camp - $220 for commuters, $280 for overnight campers, includes shirt and meals provided– July 20th - 21st – Grades 9-12
This camp is for players that have already established themselves as competitive players at the high school level and looking to play volleyball in college. This camp is not for beginning level players. It is assumed that participants registering for this camp are physically and mentally ready to train at a higher level of pace, competence and competition, that similar to a college volleyball team’s training regimen. This session is for players that have multiple years of high school varsity and club volleyball experience and are very confident in their playing ability. Campers will be divided by skill level and placed in groups where they can develop appropriately. This camp provide four sessions over the two-day period and is for commuters and overnight campers.
