Hurricane Irma Washes Out Florida Tournament; Volleyball to Host Coastal Carolina, FAU and American
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Spartans, originally scheduled to play at the Active Ankle Challenge, hosted by the Florida Gators, will now host the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, FAU Owls and the American Eagles in Fleming Gymnasium this weekend for the Spartan Spiketacular. The tournament will feature one match Friday, three on Saturday with the conclusion coming Sunday evening.

Friday evening, UNCG will take on American at 5 p.m. Saturday will start up with American being be back in action against Coastal Carolina at 4:30 Saturday evening. The Spartans close the night at 7:30 against FAU.

The Spartans open the weekend Friday against American. The Eagles enter the match at 5-3, having swept Morgan State at home Tuesday evening. UNCG trails the all-time series with the Eagles 0-1. The first meeting between the UNCG and American came in the 2012 season as UNCG hosted the Spartan-Aggie Invitational. The Spartans lost the match, 3-2.
The Blue and Gold is scheduled to take on the Owls at 12:30 Saturday afternoon. FAU enters the weekend at 4-2. The Owls went 3-0 opening weekend, defeating Central Connecticut, Stephen F. Austin and Stetson all in straight-sets. Last weekend in Fort Myers, FAU dropped matches to UCF and Miami, before defeating Florida Gulf Coast, 3-1. UNCG is 1-2 all-time against the Owls, having last played in the 2011 season. UNCG won 3-2 in the opening match of the UCF Tournament in Orlando, Fla.
