Volleyball Hires Taylor Pritchett as Assistant Coach
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG volleyball head coach Corey Carlin has announced the hiring of Taylor Pritchett as an assistant coach for the 2017 season. Pritchett joins the Spartans after working as the volunteer assistant at NC State last season.
“We're very excited to have Taylor joining our volleyball staff at UNCG.” Carlin stated, “One of Taylor's strengths that stood out in the hiring process was her deep passion for coaching and pursuing coaching as a professional career. She's not just testing the water with collegiate coaching, but sees coaching at this level as an ongoing professional goal. She's also eager to take on new challenges and wants to grow professionally, so there's no doubt she'll be a great addition to our staff.”
“Even though she's in the beginning of her collegiate coaching career, she has already proven herself to be a tireless worker and has gained the respect of several head coaches from top collegiate programs.” Carlin continued, “She came highly recommended by those coaches and has worked with some of the best in the country as a player, through working camps, and most recently on the volleyball staff at NC State. Not to mention that she has also worked with our other assistant James Goodridge in the past, so she came in ready to go and the transition of her joining our staff has been very smooth.”
A North Carolina native, Pritchett has coached with the NC Volleyball Academy as the head coach of the 15 Jade team. She also worked in the Michigan Elite Volleyball Academy as the head coach of the 15 North. For both teams, she helped develop offensive and defensive systems, training of technical and tactical skills and planned practices for her teams.
She has worked at several different camps, including with the North Carolina Tar Heels, Buffalo Bulls, Appalachian State Mountaineers and NC State Wolfpack as well as camps at her alma mater of Northwood University.
She earned a bachelors degree of Business Administration – Entertainment, Sport and Promotion Management in May of 2016 from Northwood University and will earn her master of Coaching and Athletics Administration from Concordia University Irvine this upcoming December.
Pritchett and the Spartans open the 2017 season at home as they host the Spartan Spiketacular against UMass-Lowell at 7:30 p.m. in Fleming Gymnasium on August 25th.
