Volleyball Participates in Multiple Community Service Projects 04-08-2017

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG volleyball is in the midst of its spring season, but found time to go out and help out its community.  Spartan volleyball has played two of its spring competitions already, and is participating in its third this afternoon.  The final spring competition will be April 22nd at home.

On Friday March, 31st, the volleyball team participated in community service on campus.  In an effort to ensure the continuing beauty of our campus, the volleyball team coordinated with the UNCG grounds crew office to identify an area which was in the most need of trash clean up.  The team then spent two hours picking up trash near and around three dormitories: Reynolds Hall, Grogan Hall & Cone Hall.  In the effort, seven bags of trash were filled.

Just yesterday, the team volunteered at the Greensboro Pregnancy Center.  The idea to help the Pregnancy Center was suggested by one of the team’s seniors.  During the time there, the team learned more about the mission of the center and how it serves the Greensboro community.  The team went to work soring donation materials including maternity clothes, outfits for babies and toddlers, as well as diapers, bottles and other donated items.  Sorting the large amount of donated items to make them easily distinguishable and ready for redistribution is a primary task at the center with the volume of donations they receive each week.
