WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - UNCG women's tennis finished it's third fall tournament of the season this past Friday, advancing through two days of competition in ITA Carolina Regionals. The Spartans sent seven to the Wake Forest-hosted regional, facing some of the top athletes in the country this Thursday and Friday.

Competing in just three matches on day one, the doubles combination of Ariana Chan and Sophia Adams took a loss to Furman's Rompf and Walker 8-4 while Erika Barquero and Hanna Giddings fell 8-2 to Eleni Louka and Sydney Riley of Clemson.

Barquero would bounce back on Friday however, defeating Rocio Safont of Charlotte in straight sets, before taking a second round loss to North Carolina's Alle Sanford.

After receiving a bye in the first round of Bracket B, Brianna Gomez advanced as far as the third with a win over Elon's Uma Nayar. The junior dropped the opening set 7-5 before taking back-to-back frames 6-3 and 6-4, losing to North Carolina's Elizabeth Massie in the third round.

Taya Cross and Chan both received bye rounds in the exhibition portion of this weekend's tournament, but saw their weeks end early with losses in the main draw and consolation bracket.

The Spartans complete their fall schedule at the Clay Court Invitational next weekend, participating in the two-day tournament in Wilmington from November 1st through the 2nd.
