2017-18 Women's Tennis Schedule Released
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women’s tennis has announced 25 competition dates for the 2017-18 season. The Spartans will compete in four fall competitions before starting the dual meet season on Jan. 26th, 2018. The schedule features 11 home events and 14 events on the road.
“We are very excited about our upcoming season.” Head coach Ale Guerra said, “Between returners and new faces, it is the perfect mixture of experience and energy to help build our team’s success. This year’s team is very excited and ready to compete.”
The fall schedule consists of four events, three away and one at home. The season kicks off in just a few weeks as the Spartans head to the College of Charleston Classic Sept. 15-17th. UNCG then hosts the Spartan Classic Invitational, Oct. 14-15th and hits the road for the ITA Regionals in Chapel Hill, N.C. Oct. 19-23rd. The fall season wraps up at the Coastal Battle at the Beach, Nov. 3-4th.
The spring season starts up Jan. 26th, as UNCG will host the Charlotte 49ers in the first match of the dual season at 1 p.m. The Spartans make their first road trip on Feb. 4th as they head to Wilmington, N.C. for a matchup with the UNCW Seahawks. The Blue and Gold comes home to host back-to-back matches against East Carolina and VCU on Feb. 9th and 17th, respectively.
UNCG goes on a five-match road swing following the VCU match, with matches at UNC Asheville, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Charleston Southern and Clemson before returning home. The Blue and Gold then host three straight, taking on Longwood on Mar. 13th before starting the Southern Conference Slate. UNCG hosts Western Carolina and ETSU the weekend of Mar. 17-18th, before heading to Boone, N.C. for a midweek match against Appalachian State. March closes with home matches against Furman (Mar. 24th) and Elon (Mar. 28th) before heading to Macon, Ga. to take on the Mercer Bears, Mar. 30th.
The final month of the season consists of five matches before the Southern Conference Championships. The month starts with trips to Samford (April 1st) and Wofford (April 7th). UNCG will have back-to-back nonconference matches against Richmond (April 8th) at home and at Davidson (April 11th) before closing the regular season at Chattanooga (April 14th). The Spartans will head back out to Chattanooga the following weekend as it will compete in the SoCon Championships, hosted by Chattanooga, April 20-22nd.
