GREENSBORO, N.C.– UNC Greensboro women’s tennis starts the 2018 fall season with a trip to Charlotte, N.C., for the Queens Invitational from Friday until Sunday.

The Spartans were supposed to get the season started last weekend in Elon, N.C., but with Hurricane Florence, the tournament was canceled.

Five Spartans return with junior Sophia Adams, senior Nancy Bridges, sophomore Tayah Cross, sophomore Brianna Gomez and sophomore Emily Ory.

UNCG welcomes four newcomers, including two transfers of redshirt sophomore Eugenia Camacho and junior Morgan Ingram and two freshmen of Erika Barquero and Hanna Giddings.

The Spartans look to replace three letterwinners from a year ago: Blaine Boaz, Corinne Blythe and Alice Taylor, who all exhausted their eligibility.

Announced earlier today, the women’s tennis team garnered Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic honors as a team and with Cross, Blythe and Taylor.

The Spartans continue the fall season by hosting the Spartan Classic Invitational on Oct. 6 and 7.
