Women's Tennis Signs Eugenia Camacho for Next Season
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women’s tennis head coach Ale Guerra has announced the signing of Eugenia Camacho for the 2018-19 season. Camacho is currently a sophomore at Liberty University where she is redshirting. She’s originally from Guachipelin, San Jose, Costa Rica where she attended West College.
Camacho had a very productive freshman season. She was named Big South Freshman of the Week last April as she clinched Liberty’s share of the Big South regular season title. She was a perfect 8-0 in singles play in the Big South and finished the spring season at 9-5. In doubles competition she earned a 6-4 mark.
She is a graduate of West College in Costa Rica where she was regularly ranked in the ITF Top 500. She reached numerous ITF tournament quarterfinals, semifinals and finals in both singles and doubles competitions. Twice she reached the quarterfinals in ITF tournaments in Guatemala, two in El Salvador, one in Honduras and another in the Dominican Republic. She reached an ITF semifinal in Costa Rica, two doubles in Costa Rica and one semifinal in Honduras and reached an ITF final in Costa Rica. She was the Central American Champion in 2014 and a runner-up in 2012. She was a five-time national champion.
