Women's Tennis Inks Miami Standout for 2017-18 Season
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's tennis head coach Ale Guerra has announced the signing of Brianna Gomez for the 2017-18 season. Gomez joins the Spartans after playing for John A. Ferguson High in Miami, Fla. Gomez also competed with the Tamiami Tennis Center.
“We're very excited to have Brianna join our roster next season.” Coach Guerra said, “ Brianna will provide an instant impact to our team. We are looking forward to her progressing as an athlete and a student here at UNCG.”
At the prep level, Gomez was a four-year varsity letterwinner. There she played No. 1 singles for four seasons.. She qualified for state her senior season after earning the district championship and was a three-time all-district finalist. She helped lead John A. Ferguson High to a district championship and a regional finalist in her senior season and the Falcons were district runners-up three times with Gomez leading the charge.
With Tamiami Tennis Center, Gomez worked with coach Mark Chellas. There she was a Copa Liga de Tenis de Bogota “El tenis es mas” Grade 5 quarterfinalist. She earned a United States Tennis Associations (USTA) Florida Level 5 Miami Dade Girls 18s fourth-place finish. Gomez noted USTA level 3 “Bobby Curtis” State doubles Girls 18s sixth-place and was a USTA National Selection (Columbus Day Open) 2016 quarterfinalist.
Gomez participated in the Best Buddies program at John A. Ferguson High and was a member of the National Honor Society her senior year.
