Women's Tennis Begins 2016-17 Season at Elon Fall Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG Women’s Tennis opens the fall season at the Elon Fall Invitational tomorrow morning in Elon.  There are seven Spartans competing in four different individual brackets, with four teams competing in the doubles portion of the event.  The first match is set to start at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning in Elon and will run through the weekend.    

Blaine Boaz (Dunwoody, Ga.Saint Pius X) and Corinne Blythe (Leicestershire, Great Britain/Queenswood School) open the action on Friday morning, as they will be competing in the Phoenix bracket.  Nancy Bridges (Shelby, N.C./Shelby) and Sophia Adams (Miami, Fla./TERRA Environmental Institute) will be competing in the Powell bracket.  Bridges begins play at 11:15 a.m. against NC Central’s Lynsey Cover.  Adams will be making her Spartan debut at 1:00 p.m. against Elon’s Alex Koniaev.

Yasmin Franco (Largo, Fla./Indian Rocks Christian) is the lone Spartans representative in the Gold bracket, taking on Appalachian State’s Megan Mullen at 11:30 Friday morning.  Rounding out individual competition is Sarah Swiderski (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Saddlebrook Prep)_ at 12:00 p.m., with new Spartan Alice Taylor (Cambridge, Great Britain/UMBC) also beginning competition at that time.

UNCG will have four doubles teams competing in four different doubles brackets.  Swiderski and Taylor will compete as a team in the Maroon doubles bracket.  Franco and Adams are partnered in the Gold bracket, with Bridges and Blythe rounding out the Spartan teams in the Powell doubles bracket.  Boaz will be competing with Radford’s Lilly Ellick in the Phoenix bracket to round out the pairings.
