Men's Tennis Announces 2017-18 Schedule
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men’s tennis has 28 regular season events scheduled for the 2017-18 season. The schedule includes 10 home matches, with 18 away from Greensboro. The fall features seven events, including a trip to the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The dual season gets started Jan. 19th and will feature nine home events.
The season gets started with a pair of events the weekend of Sept. 21-24. Some of the men’s team will head to Malibu, Calif. for the Oracle Masters, hosted by Pepperdine University. The others will make a short trip to Elon for the Elon Fall Invitational.
The following event will see several players head to the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Sept. 30-Oct. 9. UNCG will be back in North Carolina the following weekend as it takes part in the ITA Regionals, hosted by Duke. The Spartans will then host the Spartan Fall Invitational, Oct. 20-22.
The fall season finishes with two invitationals within the state, the 49er’s Fall Invitational, hosted by Charlotte, Oct. 27-29 and the Wake Forest Fall Invitational, Nov. 4-6.
2018 kicks off Jan. 19 as UNCG heads back to Charlotte for a dual meet against the 49ers at 6 p.m. The Spartans return home for the next four meets, hosting Presbyterian (Jan. 28), Campbell (Feb. 9), Gardner-Webb (Feb. 11) and Winthrop (Feb. 17).
Before starting the Southern Conference schedule, UNCG heads to Asheville for a match with the UNC Asheville Bulldogs, Feb. 18. The SoCon season starts up Feb. 23, as the Blue and Gold head to Johnson City, Tenn. to take on the ETSU Bucs. UNCG returns home for a match with the Samford Bulldogs, Mar. 12 at 1 p.m. The men’s tennis team the head to the beach for three events, taking on Troy in Myrtle beach on Mar. 14, Bryant at UNCW Mar. 17, and the host Seahawks Mar. 18. The Blue and Gold continues its road swing as it makes stops at East Carolina (Mar. 21) and Wofford (Mar. 24).
Mar. 27 marks the start of UNCG’s longest home stretch of the season as the Spartans will host four matches from Mar. 27-April 3. During that stretch, Appalachian State, Furman, Davidson and Mercer will come to Greensboro.
The regular season finishes up with four matches on the road. UNCG will head to Coastal Carolina (April 7), The Citadel (April 8), Elon (April 11) and Chattanooga (April 14) before returning to Chattanooga for the Southern Conference Tournament April 20-22.
