Men's Tennis Signs Ollie Palmer for 2017-18 Season

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men's tennis head coach and director of tennis, Jeff Trivette has announced the signing of Ollie Palmer of Gloucester, Great Britain for the upcoming season.  Palmer joins Nico Grewe as 2017-18 signees.

“We are very excited about Oliver joining our program next year.” Trivette said, “He was heavily recruited by several high-level Division I programs.  He is one of the top kids to come out of England in this class.”

Palmer had a highly decorated career at and prior to St. Peter's High School.  He was the Gloucestershire County singles champion at age 10, 12 and 16 and is the current reigning champion. Earned a men's and U18 county singles championship and has represented Gloucestershire at all age groups since the age of nine.  

Currently ranked in the top 20 in the United Kingdom, Palmer was ranked as high as 13th as of April. A representative of his home county of Gloucestershire since the age of 15, he has won Gloucestershire County Singles Championships since the age of 10 and is the reigning 2016-17 U18 and Men's County Champion.

Palmer played at the prep level for St. Peter's High School, leading the team to a fifth place finish in the National UK U18 Schools Tennis Championship Finals. Privately, Palmer trained at the JTC Tennis Academy in September of 2015.  While with JTC Academy, he won a 2016 U18 G2 National Singles Competition and won the U18 UK Summer National Tour (singles/doubles combined) and appeared in the quarterfinal in the UK U18 Summer National Doubles Final.  This February, Palmer reached the final of the UK U18 Winter Single Nationals.
