Redshirt Freshman (2017-18): Earned two wins in the Elon Fall Invitational, defeating North Carolina A&T’s Brett Cabon, and NC Central’s Pablo Juez-Torres. Paired with Ian Melnik to defeat Coastal Carolina’s Harry Cohen and Juan Castellanos at the Elon Men’s Invitational.

Appeared in two doubles matches in the spring season.

Freshman 2016-2017: Did not appear in a match, earning a redshirt. 

Prep: Played for Western Guilford High School, earning four varsity letters… Four-time All-Conference selection as an individual… Earned Western Guilford’s Player of the Year award all four seasons… Metro 4A Player of the Year in 2013… Mid-Piedmont Conference Player of the Year in 2016… Two-time All-Region in 2014 and 2016… Two-time Mid-Piedmont Conference Doubles Champion in 2014 and 2016… Mid-Piedmont Conference Runner-up in 2015… Led Western Guilford High to three-straight Mid-Piedmont Conference Championships, playing at No. 1 singles all four years… Led Western Guilford to a 31-1 conference record in four seasons.

Personal: Was a member of the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society… Tri-M Music Honor Society from 2013-2015… Member of the Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout in 2016… He is the son of Jeff and Francoise Whisnant… His father, Jeff (’89) and aunt Penny (’87) attended and graduated from UNCG… Majoring in marketing.
