SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Bryce Hendrix (Greenville, N.C./D.H. Conley) was named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for March, the league office announced on Friday. Hendrix helped lead the Spartans to a sixth-place finish in the Linger Longer Invitational on March 18-20, where the Spartans finished ahead of then No. 53 Kennesaw State, No. 56 Middle Tennessee State, No. 75 Michigan, No. 88 Charlotte, No. 99 Cincinnati and two SoCon squads, Chattanooga and tournament co-host Mercer.
In two tournaments Hendrix had just one round over-par with a top-50 finish at the Tiger Invitational and tied for third-place in the Linger Longer Invitational that earned him SoCon Golfer of the Week. Hendrix opened the tournament with a 5-under 67 on Sunday, posted a 1-under 71 on Monday and finished with a 4-under 68 on Tuesday. Hendrix finished ahead of six top-100 players, including four strokes clear of No. 6 Davis Riley of Alabama and five better than No. 9 Kyle Mueller of Michigan.
UNCG concludes the regular season this weekend with the Irish Creek Intercollegiate with the first two rounds scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
