GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men’s golf will play its last tournament of the regular season, beginning on Saturday at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate co-hosted by Davidson and Charlotte at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Each round will start with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on the Par 71, 7,099-yard layout. The Spartans will be starting on holes 11-15 along with James Madison and VCU. Following 36 holes on the opening day, Sunday's final round will also tee off at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstatresults.com.

In addition to the co-hosts, the 15-team and 88-individual field will feature four teams in the Top-35, six in the top-100 and six individuals in the top-100: Akron, No. 15 Clemson, Dartmouth, Dayton, No. 4 Georgia Tech, Indiana, No. 35 Kansas, No. 64 Middle Tennessee State, No. 29 North Florida and No. 99 West Virginia.

UNCG is coming off a sixth-place finish with a team score of two-over 866 (287-287-292) at the Linger Longer Invitational on March 18-20. The 16-team field had 11 teams ranked in the top-100 in the country, including three in the top-50. The Spartans finished ahead of then No. 53 Kennesaw State, No. 56 Middle Tennessee State, No. 75 Michigan, No. 88 Charlotte and No. 99 Cincinnati.

Junior Bryce Hendrix (Greenville, N.C./D.H. Conley) led the Spartans with a 10-under 206 (67-71-68) to finish ahead of six top-100 ranked golfers tied for third-place that earned him Southern Conference Golfer of the Week. Hendrix ranks third in the conference with a 72.67 stroke average.

Freshman Nick Lyerly (Salisbury, N.C./East Rowan) is the only other Spartan to rank in the top-10 in the SoCon, placing eighth with a stroke average of 73.22. Lyerly came in a tie for 42nd-place at five-over 221 (73-71-77) at the Linger Longer Invitational.

Senior Josh Stockwell (Aberdeen, N.C./Southern Pines) owns a 73.70 stroke average this season that ranks 14th in the conference. Stockwell finished in a tie for 21st-place at one-over 217 (75-68-74).

Sophomores Grant Powell (Colfax, N.C./Greensboro College) tied for 53rd-place at nine-over 225 (73-77-75) while Jonathan Brightwell (Charlotte, N.C./Independence) tied for 60th-place one stroke behind. Brightwell (Charlotte, N.C./Independence) has turned in a 74.70 stroke average this season, and Powell (Colfax, N.C./Greensboro College) has a 77.44 stroke average in nine rounds.
