SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG junior Bryce Hendrix (Greenville, N.C./D.H. Conley) has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 14-20. The selection is made by the league office.
Hendrix tied for third in the 90-player field at the Linger Longer Invitational at Reynolds Plantation in Eatonton, Georgia, shooting a 10-under-par 206 over the course of the three-day tournament. He opened the tournament with a 5-under 67 on Sunday, posted a 1-under 71 on Monday and finished with a 4-under 68 on Tuesday. Hendrix finished ahead of six top-100 players, including four strokes clear of No. 6 Davis Riley of Alabama and five better than No. 9 Kyle Mueller of Michigan.
Hendrix helped the Spartans finish sixth in the 16-team field, which included three top-50 squads and eight others in the top-100. UNCG finished just one stroke behind No. 44 Virginia and ahead of two other SoCon squads, Chattanooga (ninth-place) and tournament co-host Mercer (12th-place).
UNCG will be off Easter weekend and return to action with the Irish Creek Intercollegiate in Kannapolis, North Carolina from April 7-8 for the final tournament of the regular season.
