GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men’s golf team returns to action at the Autotrader Collegiate hosted by Georgia State at the par-72, 6,694-yard Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth, Ga. The two-day, 54-hole event begins Monday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start (holes No. 9-12) and concludes with the third and final round Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstatresults.com.

Joining the Spartans in the field includes host Georgia State, Chattanooga, Augusta, Kansas, Notre Dame, Lipscomb, Boston College, Yale, Winthrop, Francis Marion, Richmond, Georgia Southern, Davidson, Bowling Green and Mississippi State.

The Spartans have posted three top-10 finishes to start the season, including a ninth-place showing last time out at the Tar Heel Invitational. UNCG ranks second in the Southern Conference with a 291.89 stroke average per round through the first nine rounds of the season.

Junior Bryce Hendrix (Greenville, N.C./D.H. Conley) leads the Spartans into the Autotrader Collegiate with a 71.89 stroke average through nine rounds. Hendrix ranks third in the SoCon in stroke average and is coming off his best showing of the year last week. He finished third overall at the Tar Heel, posting a 12-under par 204 score, his lowest of his career. He notched rounds of 70-65-69 with his second round score of 7-under par 65 is sixth-lowest round in UNCG golf history as well as a new career-low.

Senior Joseph Cansler (Clemmons, N.C./Surry CC) made his first appearance in the lineup last week and posted a 71.00 stroke average. Cansler finished 23rd overall at 3-under par 213 with rounds of 70-69-74. He played in the lineup almost exclusively last season, posting a 73.83 stroke average in 30 rounds.

Senior Josh Stockwell (Aberdeen, N.C./Southern Pines) is third in the lineup this week after finishing 49th at the Tar Heel with a 4-over par 220 (74-75-71) when he finished tied for first in the entire field with 40 par scores. Stockwell owns a 74.89 stroke average this season and posted a 28th place finish at the Autotrader Collegiate last year with a 1-over par 217 (73-72-72).

Freshman Nick Lyerly (Salisbury, N.C./East Rowan) leads all SoCon freshman with a 73.22 stroke average and ranks sixth overall in the conference. Lyerly’s best showing so far this season came at the Rod Myers Intercollegiate, placing 21st overall in his collegiate debut.

Sophomore Jonathan Brightwell (Charlotte, N.C./Independence) rounds out the Spartans’ lineup with a 73.67 stroke average, ranking seventh overall in the conference. Brightwell posted a 28th place finish this season at the Wolfpack Fall Open. He recorded four top-20 finishes last season as a true freshman.

Sophomore Ben Buben (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day) will play as an individual this week and will be playing in his fourth event of the year. Buben owns a 77.00 stroke average this season and posted a 2-over par 222 score at the Tar Heel Invitational with rounds of 74-76-72.
