GREENSBORO, N.C. – Spartan softball, the reigning Southern Conference Regular Season Champions, have announced its 2018 spring schedule. UNCG will play 26 games and two regular season tournaments at the UNCG Softball Stadium. The Blue and Gold will also play host for the Southern Conference Softball Championship May 9-12. The Spartans return 14 letterwinners from last year’s squad.
“I am excited about the upcoming softball season, I believe the 2018 schedule will put our team to the test.” Head coach Janelle Breneman said, “Opening on the road at Coastal, then in Madeira Florida Beach at Eastern Michigan’s tournament and traveling to Athens will allow us to play an array of competition. On the road you are always challenged in different ways, but I feel certain we will be prepared and eager to play ball and take the field in South Carolina, Florida or Georgia. This team loves to compete. We came from behind in a few games this fall and we will fight and battle until the last pitch is thrown.”
“We are certainly thrilled to play two tournaments at home, we have an amazing stadium, field and love to see our parents and loyal supporters in the stands.” Breneman continued, “This season, our fans will be treated to exciting softball competition all season long. I want to encourage you to come out and support this talented group of young ladies at our beautiful stadium and cheer on the Spartans.”
