GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro softball alums Lindsay and Nicole Thomas teamed up to be one of the most formidable duos for the program from 2013-16, etching their names all over the school’s record book as the pair combined for six NFCA All-Region Teams and seven All-Southern Conference First Teams. Both have continued their softball careers into the professional ranks, which has taken them all around the globe.

Lindsay remains the greatest hitter in Spartans’ history, as she’s the all-time leader in career batting average (.382), home runs (57), runs scored (189), hits (257) and slugging percentage (.728). The 2013 SoCon Freshman of the Year, Lindsay is one of five players in the history of the SoCon and UNCG’s only four-time first team all-conference selection.

In addition to serving as an assistant coach for Western Carolina the last two years, Lindsay has had multiple international stints in her pro career. Like Nicole, she earned the Best Batter Award from the Austrian Softball League while playing for the Vienna M-Stars in the summer of 2017.

This summer, Lindsay played on team Forlí for a month and a half in the A 1 Italian Softball League, which is also where former Spartan great and teammate Katelyn Bedwell played with previously. The team finished second in the regular season and will play in the Italian cup in September. In 16 games, she hit .429 with five homers, 22 RBI’s and an .878 slugging percentage.

“It was a blast having the opportunity to compete as a player at the competitive level again,” Thomas said. “Not only was playing fun, but I was surrounded by teammates that appreciated and supported each other which was inspiring.”
