INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – UNCG softball, the 2018 Southern Conference Tournament and Regular Season Champions, will continue its season as the team will head to the Columbia, South Carolina Regional in the NCAA Tournament. The host school is the No. 9 seed South Carolina, who will square off with UNCG at 7:30 PM ET on Friday.

Joining the Spartans and Gamecocks in the region is Liberty and Hofstra. The region will run Friday, May 18 through Sunday, May 20.

All session booklets for the regional are $40 and go on sale Monday morning at 10:00 AM ET on gamecocksonline.com or through South Carolina’s ticket office at 803-777-4274. Individual session tickets go on sale on Sunday at 11:00 PM ET on ticketmaster.com for $15.

The Spartans earned the Southern Conference’s automatic bid after defeating No. 6 seed ETSU 5-2 in the SoCon Championship Game on Saturday. UNCG didn’t drop a single game in the conference tournament, winning all three games on its home field to take its first-ever SoCon Conference Tournament Championship. The NCAA Regional Appearance will be the second in program history, joining the 1997 team that won the Big South Tournament.

16 campus sites will have four-team, double-elimination tournaments, with the winners advancing to the Super Regionals. The winner of the Columbia Regional will be matched with the winner of the Arizona State Regional.
