GREENSBORO, N.C. – Head softball coach Janelle Breneman announced the addition of Florida State transfer Jasmine Palmer Monday afternoon. Palmer, a sophomore utility player from Biltmore Lake, N.C., joins the Spartans after appearing in 14 games for the Seminoles in 2016.

"We are excited to announce the addition of Jasmine Palmer to our
Spartan roster,” said Breneman. “A North Carolina native, Jasmine is transferring in with top DI, travel ball and high school experience. She is a skilled player that possesses leadership qualities and a strong willingness to contribute to our quest for a conference championship."

In her freshman season at FSU, Palmer batted .273 (3-for-11) in 14 appearances. She made five starts, all as the designated player. At the plate, she hit one home run, drove in three runs and scored three runs for the Seminoles.

The Enka High School alum helped the Sugar Jets to the 2015 NCHSSAA 3-A State Championship with an undefeated 28-0 record during her senior year. She was named a Second Team All-American by MaxPreps and finished with a .590 batting average driving in 27 runs with six doubles, three triples and six home runs.

Palmer played travel ball for the Carolina Elite where she batted over .400 in each of her final three seasons with the team.

She was a National Honors Society member in high school and finished in the top-15 of her senior class at EHS.

Palmer joins the Spartans whom return 2016 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year Stephanie Bryden and 2016 All-SoCon pitcher Alicia Bazonski.
