GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's soccer opens its Southern Conference season this Friday, hosting the Citadel inside UNCG Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. The Spartans are looking to continue an 18-match winning streak over the visiting Bulldogs, while attempting to extend their current streak to four straight victories. Both teams will bring hot offenses onto the pitch this weekend, with the Spartans averaging 3.67 goals per contest in their past three matches, and the Bulldogs averaging 3.00 in their past four.

• UNCG has never lost to the Bulldogs over 18 matchups all-time, with the Citadel getting outscored 87-9 since the pair's first meeting in 2001

• The Spartans have won their conference opener each of the past two years, defeating VMI 4-0 in Lexington last September


• Currently on a three-match winning streak, the Spartans have outscored opponents 11-3 over that span, while securing a pair of shutouts

• Freshman Gabi Santora earned SoCon Offensive Player of the Week honors this past Tuesday, after collecting a pair of goals and an assist over the Spartans' two wins over Elon and East Carolina

• Defender Kayla Campbell scored the game-winner against the Pirates on Sunday, hitting in her second goal of the season off a corner. The sophomore's first goal of 2019 came in similar fashion, during the Spartans' 6-0 win at Gardner-Webb

• Averaging 4.11 shots per game, forward Cienna Rideout currently ranks 23rd in the country, she leads UNCG with 37 attempts and 16 shots on target

• Opponents have combined for just seven shots on goal during the Spartans' current three-match winning streak


• The Citadel leads the nation both in shots per game (23.88) and shots on goal per game (11.25), while averaging 2.38 goals per match

• The Bulldogs have not lost a match since the first of the month, going 2-0-2 in their past four contests


The Spartans have a short turnaround, with Mercer coming to Greensboro on Sunday. The remainder of UNCG's regular season schedule will be played on Fridays and Sundays, as the Spartans look to beat the Bears for a third straight time this weekend.
