GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s soccer team closes out the regular season Sunday afternoon as the Spartans welcome in The Citadel for Senior Day. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at the UNCG Soccer Stadium and will be broadcast on ESPN3 and the ESPN App with Jason Patterson and Phil Cox on the call. Links will be available at www.uncgspartans.com.

The Spartans will honor their senior class prior to the game in Chloe Buehler (Perrysburg, Ohio/Penn State), Hannah Hoeksema (Auckland, New Zealand), Regan Lehman (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) and Melanie Spensiero (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic). The four seniors have combined to play in 274 career games, including 212 career starts.

The Spartans enter Sunday’s game having posted a 3-1-2 record over their last six games, including back-to-back 1-0 wins at home over VMI and Mercer. UNCG’s victory Friday night against the Bears assured the Spartans of the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Southern Conference Tournament with a 4-2-2 league mark, good for 14 total points. The third seed guarantees the Spartans of a first round bye and a home game Saturday, October 28 in the quarterfinal round of play.

Seven different Spartans have scored this season with junior defender Emily Jensen (Nelson, New Zealand/Santa Clara) leading the way with three goals and two assists. Lehman is second on the team in scoring with three goals and one assist. Freshman Quiqui Hita (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep), junior Heida Ragney Vidarsdottir (Akureyri, Iceland/Carson Newman) and redshirt freshman forward Kaley Tucker (Littleton, Colo./Thunder Ridge) have each scored two goals this year.

Freshman goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper (Charlottesville, Va./Albermarle) as played 1456:47 in goal and owns a 1.05 goals against average. Tyler-Cooper has posted six shutouts, including three-straight clean slates and has a .819 save percentage on the year.

The Citadel enters Sunday’s game with a 5-11-0 overall record and an 0-8-0 mark in SoCon play. The Bulldogs have dropped eight-straight games but five of those losses have come by just one goal and two have been by two goals. The Citadel has scored 20 goals in 16 games while allowing 31 goals against.

Cierra Skyes leads the team in scoring with seven goals and one assist while Logan Dix is second on the team in scoring with three goals and two assists. The Bulldogs have played two different goalkeepers with Logan Leask leading the way with 801:40 in goal. Leask has a 2.36 goals against average and a .747 save percentage. Kaeley Johnston has played 648:44 in goal and owns a 1.39 goals against average with a .688 save percentage.
