GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s soccer is less than a week away from starting its season at home against Arkansas on Thursday, Aug. 22. UNCGSpartans.com will profile the five true freshmen of this year’s team. Now up is Gabi Santora, a freshman midfielder from Boca Raton, Fla.

What made you choose UNCG? Welcoming/thoughtful coaches and the amazing facilities

What are your biggest strengths as a player? Distributing the ball and being gritty 

What is your (intended) major? International/Global Studies

What are three words that describe you? Ambitious, happy and easy going

What are your hobbies and interests outside of soccer? Hiking and going to the beach

Do you have any pre-game rituals or superstitions? Listening to the same songs every game

If you could bring one thing from your hometown to Greensboro, what would it be? My dog

What is the best advice you've ever been given? To take one day at a time and always be positive!!


If you could meet three people (past or present) who would you want to meet? Why? Taron Egerton, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus


If you could be a star in any sport, other than soccer, which one would it be? Track and field because I think it would be super cool to be able to run that fast


What songs have you completely memorized? The whole soundtrack to Rocketman


In which movie universe would you most like to live? Madagascar


What's the farthest you've ever been from home? I went to Argentina a few years ago to visit my mom’s family there


Which app do you use the most on your phone? Snapchat


Who introduced you to the sport of soccer? My dad was a big influence but most of my family plays soccer, so I was introduced to the sport at a very young age


What is your most memorable moment from your athletic career so far? Scoring the game winning goals of the state semifinal and final games with my club soccer team and winning the tournament

What are you most looking forward to about this season? Meeting new people and overcoming challenges.

Who was your childhood hero? Carli Lloyd

If you were an animal what would you be? Dolphin

What is one word your teammates would use to describe you? Hard-working

What is your dream job? Working as a doctor in undeveloped countries

Who had the greatest impact on your life? Why? My dad. He would always practice with me after he came home from work and came to almost all of my games and would give me advice after. His knowledge of the game is something that I took for granted but it has made me the player I am today
