Women's Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award For 13th Time
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s soccer team has earned the United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year. The Team Academic Award recognizes exemplary performance as a team in the classroom with a composite grade point of average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster.
This year’s award marks the 13th time in UNCG women’s soccer history that the Spartans have earned the honor. UNCG is one of 544 teams NCAA women’s teams this season to earn the honor and combined with the men’s program, UNCG is one of just 208 programs across the country to have both the men’s and women’s programs honored.
The Spartans placed 23 student-athletes on the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2016-17 season and had five members named to the SoCon All-Academic team.
United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full school year.
