GREENSBORO, N.C. – Hot on the heels of a key road point Friday night at Appalachian State, UNCG makes the quick 15-mile trip over to neighboring High Point Monday night, taking on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. at Vert Stadium.
The contest will be streamed live on the Big South Network. Links to live video and stats are available at UNCGSpartans.com.
Despite the proximity, Monday’s contest will be just the eight all-time meeting between the Spartans and HPU, though the two sides have played in each of the last five seasons. UNCG maintains a 5-1-1 advantage in the series, though the Blue and Gold have failed to secure a win in either of the last two matchups.
The Spartans are coming off of a hard fought 1-1 draw with Appalachian State up in Boone, North Carolina on Friday. Freshman forward Quiqui Hita (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep Academy) netted her first-career goal to tie the game up in the 76th minute and would have had the winning tally in the 119th minute if not for an incredible save off of the line by the ASU defense.
High Point is 2-3-0 on the year, having dropped its last two contests to SEC opponents in No. 11 South Carolina and Ole Miss. In their five games, the Panthers have been outscored by a total of 9-2.
UNCG holds a statistical advantage over HPU in shots per game at 7.2 to 5.2 and shots-on-goal percentage at .472 to .346. Meanwhile, the Panthers maintain a narrow advantage in both goals against per game (2.00/1.80) and save percentage (.764/.750).
