Women’s Soccer Snags Five on All-SoCon Teams
Spartanburg, S.C. – Five members of the UNCG women’s soccer team earned Southern Conference honors as announced by the league office Tuesday morning. Senior Georgia Brown (Queenstown, New Zealand/St. Hilda’s Collegiate) capped off an outstanding career at UNCG earning her fourth All-Conference award being named to the All-SoCon Second Team. She has previously been named Second Team All-SoCon in 2013 and 2014 and was selected to the first team in 2015.
Regan Lehman (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) repeated as a Second Team All-Conference defender while goalkeeper Chloe Buehler (Perrysburg, Ohio/Penn State) also joins her teammates as a second team selection.
This marks the fifth straight year at least two Spartans have been named to the Southern Conference Second Team.
Marissa Ferrantino (Woodbridge, Va./Osbourn Park) earned All-Freshman team accolades as a defender and was joined by forward Cienna Rideout (Henderson, Nev./Coronado) making it the second year in a row UNCG has snagged a defender and forward on the All-Freshman team.
UNCG had a total of five selections, marking the third consecutive season the Spartans have produced at least five all-conference award winners. Regular season champion Samford had a SoCon-best nine selections including Coach, Player, Defender and Freshman of the Year. Furman had eight all-conference picks while ETSU had six.
The Spartans finished 7-11-2 overall and will graduate six seniors this offseason including four-time All-SoCon recipient, Brown.
