BUIES CREEK, N.C. - UNCG men's soccer (1-4) falls to Campbell (3-1-1) on Friday night, with the hosting Camels taking a 2-0 victory over the Spartans.

Campbell opened up Friday night's scoring with a fast break goal in the seventh minute, putting away the go ahead goal on a cross into the middle. The Spartans collected a pair of shots at net in the first 45 but were unable to steer an equalizer on frame, taking a one goal deficit into the half.

The Spartans turned up the pressure for the equalizer in the second half with defender Casey Penland coming within inches of knotting things up at a goal apiece in the 52nd. With UNCG lining up for a free kick, the senior beat his mark to get up over the Camels defense and deliver a header that went just wide of the net.

UNCG's biggest shot at tying things up came in the 72nd when a mad scramble in front of the net off a Spartan corner forced the Campbell keeper to fall on a loose ball inside the six-yard box, yet the score remained 1-0 going into the final 10 minutes of the match.

With UNCG pushing for the tying goal, the Camels were able to work their offense off the counter attack, finding their second goal of the night in the 85th on the cross and finish off the night with a 2-0 win.
