GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men’s soccer team has earned the United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year. The Team Academic Award recognizes exemplary performance as a team in the classroom with a composite grade point of average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster.
This year’s award marks the fifth time in UNCG men’s soccer history that the Spartans have earned the honor and the fourth time in the last five years. UNCG is one of 293 teams NCAA men’s teams this season to earn the honor and combined with the women’s program, UNCG is one of just 208 programs across the country to have both the men’s and women’s programs honored.
The Spartans placed 17 student-athletes on the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2016-17 season and had six members named to the SoCon All-Academic team.
United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full school year.
