GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second-straight week, UNCG junior goalkeeper Jon Milligan (Mount Pleasant, S.C./Wando) has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. This marks the third weekly honor of the year for the Spartans heading into tonight’s SoCon home contest against Wofford at 7 p.m.
Milligan and the Spartans posted a 1-0-1 record and ran their unbeaten streak to five-straight games, all by shutout. Milligan helped the Spartans posted a 0-0 double overtime tie at defending SoCon champion ETSU before blanking No. 21 Furman 2-0 in the SoCon home opener Saturday night.
Milligan has helped the Spartans post a 4-0-1 record over the last five games with all five games coming by shutout. Milligan have not allowed a goal in a span of 532:65, not allowing a goal since Sept. 9, a span of almost nine hours of game play. Milligan posted two saves at ETSU and three saves at home against Furman. Milligan leads the SoCon in goals against average (0.67), shutouts (6) and save percentage (.829).
The Spartans will look to continue their strong play tonight at 7 p.m. at the UNCG Soccer Stadium when they host Wofford. Admission is FREE!
