GREENSBORO, N.C.- UNC Greensboro’s men’s soccer team will continue Southern Conference play on Tuesday evening facing Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network.
The Spartans In 2018
After finishing non-conference play with a 4-6-0 record, it looked like the Spartans were going to begin conference play with a victory over Belmont this past Saturday. In the first half of the conference opener, UNCG dominated Belmont as the Spartans scored as many goals as the Bruins had shots (two). But UNCG’s 2-0 halftime lead was wiped away by two second half goals by Belmont’s Ares Marlonsson. In overtime, neither team was able to end the game, as the contest ended in a 2-2 tie.
Earlier in the week, the Spartans fell to No. 1 Wake Forest 2-0, the second ranked team they have faced this season (No. 16 Virginia Tech was the other).
This matchup will mark the 31st meeting all-time between the Spartans and Terriers dating back to UNCG’s first season in the SoCon in 1997. The Spartans hold a 23-6-1 overall advantage. Last season, UNCG and Wofford split the season series with the Spartans scoring a 6-1 victory in Spartanburg.
A Look At Wofford
The Terriers enter Tuesday night’s clash in the midst of a six-game losing streak. On the season, Wofford is 1-8-1 with the team’s lone victory a 1-0 overtime effort against Winthrop on Sept. 2. Wofford is 0-3-0 at its home stadium, Snyder Field, this season. On Saturday, the Terriers lost to ETSU 2-1 in their SoCon opener.
