GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced today with seven UNC Greensboro women’s golfers honored with the distinction.
2018-19 seniors Lexi Kershaw and Natalia Asensio, junior Louisa Tichy, sophomores Tara Bettle, Sara Rydman and Keri Kenkel and freshman Hailey Joy were amongst the nearly 1,100 women’s collegiate golfers recognized with the prestigious honor.
“I’m so proud of the team as they work extremely hard in the classroom,” said Head Coach Janell Howland. “Grades are important to them and to have so many of them achieve this award is a testament to their dedication to academics.”
According to the WGCA’s press release of the announcement, the criteria for the All-American Scholar Team is one of the most stringent in all of intercollegiate athletics, as the minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
The women’s golf team this year earned a cumulative team GPA of 3.80, setting a new program record.
