GREENSBORO, N.C.- UNC Greensboro’s women’s golf team will continue its fall play on Monday, Oct. 8, participating in the 2018 Pinehurst Challenge at Pinehurst Resort’s No. 6 course. The tournament will be a shotgun start with 36 holes played on Monday before 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

A Glance At The Squad
The Spartans are coming off a second place finish in the team’s annual home tournament, the Starmount Fall Classic that took place this past week at Starmount Forest Country Club, collecting a team score of 901 (305-294-304). UNCG was led by sophomore Tara Bettle, who had the second lowest score in the tournament with a one-over par 217 (73-69-75). Lexi Kershaw also finished tied 14th place, registering a seven-over par 223 (78-72-73). Sara Rydman, meanwhile, finished tied for fourth place with a three-over 219 (74-77-68) in individual play. Her four-under 68 in the third round was the best round of her career to date.
This is the third tournament for UNCG so far this year, as the Spartans began play at September’s Col. Wollenberg Ram Classic at Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. The Spartans posted a 900 (311-297-292) and climbed to a ninth place finish after entering the third round in 12th place.

UNCG will be one of 17 teams in the 2018 Pinehurst Challenge, joined by Bucknell, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, Elon, Georgia State, High Point, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, James Madison, North Florida, Presbyterian, Richmond, Samford, Stetson, Towson and William & Mary.
