GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s golf team returns to action closing out the fall season with the annual Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston Oct. 22-24 at the Kiawah Island Resort Turtle Point Course. The three-day, 54-hole event will be play on the par-72, 5,981-yard course and live scoring will be available each day at www.golfstatresults.com.

The Palmetto Intercollegiate consists of 18 team including UNCG, Boston University, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, College of Charleston, Daytona State, East Tennessee State, Kansas, Kennesaw State, Marshall, Mercer, Mississippi, North Florida, Old Dominion, Troy, Tulsa and Xavier.

UNCG enters the Palmetto Intercollegiate carrying four-straight top-10 finishes on the year. The Spartans rank fourth in the Southern Conference as a team with a 295.83 stroke average through nine rounds. Last time out, UNCG finished at 10-over par 874 at the Pinehurst Challenge, setting a new program-record surpassing the previous mark of 875 in the 2011-12 campaign at the Palmetto Intercollegiate.

Sophomore Louisa Tichy (Germering, Germany) holds the top spot in the lineup this week after finishing 12th overall at the Pinehurst Challenge. Tichy posted a 2-under par 214 score to set a career-low with rounds of 74-70-70. She is second on the team this year with a 74.67 stroke average and has posted two top-15 finishes on the season.

Freshman Tara Bettle (Hohen Neuendorf, Germany) leads the Spartans with a 73.42 stroke average, which ranks seventh in the SoCon. Bettle has the second-lowest freshman stroke average so far this year and has posted two top-20 finishes this season. She finished 36th overall at the Pinehurst Challenge.

Freshman Keri Kenkel (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) also placed 36th at the Pinehurst Challenge and had her best showing at the Starmount Forest Fall Classic with a 17th place showing .She is third on the team with a 74.92 stroke average.

Sophomore Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford) check in fourth on the team with a 75.25 stroke average. Dobbins posted two top-30 finishes this season, including a 14th place effort at the Starmount Forest Fall Classic. Junior Natalia Asensio (Madrid, Spain/Cardenal Spinola) rounds out the lineup with a 75.92 stroke average in 12 rounds of play.
