GREENSBORO, N.C. –UNC Greensboro women’s golf head coach Janell Howland has been named head coach at Lamar, her alma mater, the school announced Tuesday.
A national search for her replacement will begin immediately.
“We want to thank Coach Howland for her contributions to the UNCG women’s golf program,” said Director of Athletics Kim Record. “Janell guided the team to significant accomplishments on the course while her student-athletes’ continued dedication in the classroom set new program records for academic success. We wish her well in returning to her alma mater.”
Under Howland’s guidance, the Spartans set new program records in team-low 18- and 54-hole scores while 16 different student-athletes were named to the Southern Conference’s All-Academic Team. Additionally, the Spartans during the 2018-19 academic year earned the seventh-highest cumulative GPA (3.80) amongst Division I women’s golf programs.
