KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.– UNC Greensboro women’s golf finished in ninth place at the 18-team Palmetto Invitational Tuesday.

“We had a lot of confidence coming into the tournament,” head coach Janell Howland said.  “When we made mistakes, we knew that we could recover and we did that well.  We got better every day and that’s all I can ask.”

Senior Lexi Kershaw moved up six spots in the final round after shooting an even-par for a three-round score of seven-over par 223 to finish in a tie for 24thto lead the Spartans. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native recorded a one-over par 37 on the back nine, but recorded a one-under par 35 on the front nine.

“Today was a good finish,” Kershaw said.  “I went out and started strong and just took it one hole at a time.  I hit a lot of great shots and gave myself a lot more chances.  The team had a much better day and I’m excited to take this into the last tournament and see what we can do.”
