GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's golf team concluded its eighth annual Bridgestone Golf Collegiate Sunday as the Spartans posted an 11th place finish at the Grandover Resort in the 54-hole stroke-play event. No. 47 Mississippi State won the event recording a 3-under par 861 (286-286-289) to win by four strokes over Chattanooga 1-over par 865 (289-282-294).
Chattanooga's Chris Robb won the individual title posting a 9-under score of 207 (72-66-69) after 54 holes to defeat Mississippi State's Axel Boasson by one stroke at 8-under par 208 (69-67-72). Robb's third round score of 69 was the lowest of the afternoon while his second round score of 66 was the lowest of the tournament.
Sophomore Alex Ehlert (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) was the Spartans' top finisher posting a 5-over par 221 (73-69-79) to finish in a tie for 19th place. Sophomore Roy Dixon (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury) carded an 8-over 224 (78-69-77) to place 35th overall as the Spartans' second finisher.
Freshman Luke Haithcock (Burlington, N.C./Williams) posted a score of 229 (77-73-79) to finish in 45th place while classmate Taylor Coalson (Dobson, N.C./North Surry) carded a 231 (73-79-79) to notch a 54th finish. Senior Robert Hoadley (Southern Pines, N.C./Union Pines) rounded out the lineup with a 232 (74-82-76), placing 55th overall.
