GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s and men’s outdoor track and field team participated in the annual High Point VertKlasse Meet this weekend at Dick Vert Stadium.
Women’s Track Senior Kelly Montague (Garner, N.C./West Johnston) led the way at High Point, posting two personal records on the weekend. Montague finished 10th overall in the 1,500-meter distance with a top time of 4:46.65, while also turning in a personal-best time in the 800-meter distance at 2:23.26, finishing 21st overall.
Senior Shannon Hall (Waldorf, Md./North Point) also set a new personal-best time in the 1,500-meter distance, placing 12th overall with a time of 4:47.86. Hall also finished seventh overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.48. Sophomore Katherine Link (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) added a personal-best time of 4:48.31 in the 1,500-meter race to finish 14th overall. Classmate Katlyn Ayers (Strasburg, Va./Strasburg) rounded out the Spartans finishing in the top 20 on the weekend, placing 19th in the 1,500-meter distance with a time of 4:53.30.
Men’s Track Senior Tyron Alston (Mebane, N.C./Eastern Alamance) was the Spartans’ top finisher at the VertKlasse Meet, placing third overall in the 800-meter distance with a time of 1:56.44. Freshman Jonathan Hodge (Kannapolis, N.C./A.L. Brown) placed 18th in the race with a time of 1:59.49.
In the 1,500-meter distance, Alston finished 18th overall with a time of 4:01.53 to lead UNCG. Junior Dylan Belles (Denver, N.C./East Lincoln) turned in a personal-best time of 4:02.07 in the 1,500-meter distance to place 21st overall.
UNCG returns to the track at the Joe Hilton Invitational April 11-12 in Chapel Hill, the final tune-up before the Southern Conference Championships in Spartanburg April 28
