GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men’s indoor track and field team took part in the Liberty Open Saturday at the Tolsma Indoor Track in its second weekend of the season. The Spartans took home times in the mile and 500-meter distances while placing second in both the 400-meter dash and the 1,000-meter race.
Junior Dylan Belles (Denver, N.C./East Lincoln) posted the top time in the mile race as UNCG had all five runners in the distance. Belles posted a time of 4:23.49, trimming almost 10 seconds off his previous best time. Sophomore John Elwood (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford) posted the top time in the 500-meter dash, clocking in at 1:10.28.
Senior Tyron Alston (Mebane, N.C./Eastern Alamance) placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.64. Sophomore Joshua Crawford (Fayetteville, N.C./South View) rounded out the Spartans’ top finishers with a second place showing in the 1,000-meter race with a time of 2:34.53.
The Spartans return to action next weekend at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., Jan. 24-25.
