In 2012-13, Alejandra helped the Spartans to a 14-7 overall record, including a 8-2 mark in conference matches. The Spartans were ranked as high as No. 65 last season. Senior Niltooli Wilkins was named first team All-SoCon after earning 24 victories during the 2012-13 campaign.

Former Spartan, Alejandra Guerra, has been named as graduate assistant coach for the women’s tennis program, as announced by head coach, Jeff Trivette.

“We are very lucky to have Ale come back to our program,” said Trivette. “She is arguably, one of the best tennis players ever to put on a Spartan uniform. She has a high level of experience at the college and pro levels that will be invaluable to our kids in our practices and matches. I am most excited about is that we have a former student-athlete returning to our program, who wants to invest her time and energy into the success of UNCG tennis.”

Guerra contributed to the Spartans as a player from 2007 to 2009. She was named Southern Conference Player of the Year in 2008. Guerra was a two-time First Team All SoCon selection in singles and doubles in 2008-2009. She placed as high as No. 38 in singles and No. 12 in doubles in the ITA national rankings.

In 2008, Guerra went 18-2 in singles and ended the season with a perfect record of 9-0 in SoCon matches. She followed that season with 29-8 record in singles and a 9-1 ledger in the SoCon in 2009.

The Tampico, Mexico native ended her career with 47 victories in singles and a total of 37 double wins. She held the record of most wins in a season with 29 until last year when Niltooli Wilkins broke the record with 30 wins.

Guerra is pursuing her Master’s degree in Liberal Arts and is expected to graduate in 2015.
