Kyle Cain Named NCCSIA All-State Second Team
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG junior forward Kyle Cain (Chicago, Ill./Arizona State) was named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association Second Team All-State, the organization announced Tuesday. This award marks the third postseason honor for Cain as he was named First Team All-Southern Conference and Second Team All-District by the NABC.
Cain led the team and ranking ninth in the league in scoring this year at 15.4 points per game. He also leads the team and is second in the SoCon on the glass, grabbing 8.9rebounds per game.
Cain, a transfer from Arizona State in his first year of eligibility at UNCG, scored in double figures 28 times this season, including eight games with 20 or more points. He posted a team-high 11 double-doubles on the year, which ranked second in the league just behind Z. Mason of Chattanooga (13). He connected on 47.6 percent (201-of-422) from the field this season and hit 71.3 percent (82-of-115) from the free throw line. His 493 points scored ranks 12th most in UNCG single-season scoring records while his 285 rebounds are second-most in program history in a season.
