GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men’s basketball team continues its four-game home stretch Sunday afternoon as the Spartans host NCAA Division II foe Chowan. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on 1320 WCOG AM with Scott Pryzwansky and Darryl Kosciak providing the call. The Spartans enter the game with a 1-1 record on the year after picking up a season-opening win over High Point before suffering a last-second loss to East Carolina. UNCG and Chowan will be meeting for the first time in program history.
Freshman guard Tevon Saddler (Aberdeen, Md./St. Frances Academy) leads the Spartans in scoring through two games, averaging 22.0 points per game. Saddler is coming off a 34-point effort against East Carolina, the largest scoring output for a UNCG freshman in the NCAA Division I era. He connected on 10-of-15 from the field and 14-of-19 from the free throw line. Through two games, he has gone to the free throw line 29 times, the most in the Southern Conference.

Junior Nicholas Paulos (Salt Lake City, Utah/New Hampton School) rounds out the five Spartans averaging double figures as he posts 12.0 points per game and has hit six three-pointers.
Chowan will play its second game of the season Saturday afternoon as it hosts The Apprentice School in its home opener. The Hawks opened the season Thursday night with a loss to East Carolina in Greenville. The game will be counted as an exhibition game for the Hawks but is counted as a regular season game for the Pirates.
Chowan dropped a 95-45 contest at East Carolina as the Pirates out-scored the Hawks 50-20 in the second half. The Hawks were out-rebounded by a 59-27 margin against ECU. Phoenix Butler-Poole was the only Chowan player in double figures, scoring 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field. Tiron Brown added nine points off the bench for the Hawks. Chowan is coming off a 7-20 record last year that saw them post an 0-16 mark in conference play.
