GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's basketball team closes out the home portion of the 2012-13 regular season Wednesday night when the Spartans host Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum. Wednesday's game will be broadcast on 1320 WCOG AM and online at www.uncgspartans.com.

The Spartans will recognize their senior class in Derrell Armstrong (Mechanicsville, Md./Allegany CC), Brian Cole (Dacula, Ga./Dacula), Taylor Hoffer (Poulsbo, Wash./North Kitsap), Kelvin McNeil (Newport News, Va./Delaware), Demetrius Robinson (Fuquay-Varina, N.C./Fuquay-Varina) and Korey Van Dussen (Zeeland, Mich./Zeeland East) with a ceremony prior to the game. Additionally, student manager Phillip Williams will be recognized.

Wednesday's game will be a battle for Southern Conference Tournament seeding as the Spartans and Eagles are currently in a three-way tie with Wofford for a 6-10 league record. The top three seeds of the tournament are already set with Davidson as the top seed, Elon the second seed and the College of Charleston the third seed. UNCG can finish anywhere from the seventh to 10th seed in the tournament, which runs March 8-11 in Asheville.

Wednesday's game marks the 22nd meeting all-time between UNCG and Georgia Southern dating back to its first meeting Jan. 10, 1998. The Spartans lead the all-time series by a 12-9 margin and have won four out of the last five meetings. The Eagles posted an 83-69 victory last season in Statesboro as they out-scored the Spartans 51-32 in the second half.

UNCG enters Wednesday's game with an 8-19 overall record as the Spartans are coming off a hard-fought 75-71 loss at Samford Saturday night. The Spartans trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half before rallying to pull within one in the final minute, only to see the comeback attempt run out of time in the four-point loss.

Junior guard Trevis Simpson (Douglas, Ga./Coffee) leads the attack for the Spartans as he averages a league-high 19.1 points per game, which ranks 24th in NCAA Division I in scoring. He is coming off a 22-point effort Saturday night, which marks his 10th game this season of at least 20 points.

Armstrong is second on the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game while also grabbing 4.7 rebounds from his guard position. He is third on the team with 35 three-pointers made and is coming off a 19-point effort Saturday night. Freshman forward Kayel Locke (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) rounds out the Spartans averaging double figures as he chips in 10.2 points per game.

Sophomore forward Nicholas Paulos (Salt Lake City, Utah/New Hampton School) leads the team from three-point land as he has hit 57 three-pointers while shooting 43.8 percent. Paulos set the UNCG-single game record with 10 three-pointers last week against Chattanooga as he hit 10-of-12 from long range off the bench in 21 minutes.

Georgia Southern enters Wednesday's game with a 12-17 overall record and a 6-10 mark in league play. The Eagles have dropped four out of their last six games with wins over The Citadel and Furman while dropping games to Appalachian State, Western Carolina, College of Charleston and Wofford.
