GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG baseball team plays its penultimate Southern Conference series of the season this weekend, heading to Spartanburg, S.C. for the second time in as many campaigns for three games against Wofford. The Spartans dropped two of three to Samford last weekend in Greensboro to wrap up their home schedule.

Live stats and a video feed of all three contests are available courtesy of the Wofford athletics department.

UNCG holds a commanding 40-13 lead in the all-time series, but the Terriers captured two of three in Spartanburg last season. The Spartans won the first contest 10-9 before falling in two tight decisions 4-1 and 3-2. Wofford enters the weekend with some momentum, winning a series last weekend at the Citadel in Charleston.

The Spartans enter the weekend at 21-21 overall and 8-10 in the Southern Conference. UNCG has had three conference games cancelled due to inclement weather but sits within striking distance of a top-four spot in the league standings. The Blue and Gold is the top hitting team in the SoCon with a .311 batting average - good for ninth in the nation. UNCG has seven players batting .310 or higher. In terms of pitching, the Spartans own a 4.84 team earned run average.

Sophomore RHP Ryan Clark (3-5, 3.29) will take the mound for the series opener while junior RHP Max Povse (6-3, 5.49) and senior RHP Dylan Thompson (2-4, 5.61) will pitch Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The Terriers are 25-25 and 7-13 in Southern Conference play coming into the weekend. Wofford dropped a pair of midweek contests falling 11-10 at Presbyterian Monday and 15-1 at South Carolina Wednesday. The Terriers currently reside in eighth place in the league standings. As a team, Wofford is hitting .247 - 10th in the SoCon - and is led by Seth Neely’s .287 mark. The pitching staff sports a 5.31 ERA while opposing batters are hitting .274 off the Terriers.

RHP Jesse Morris (7-6, 5.32) will toe the rubber in the series opener, followed by RHP Matt Millburn (3-4, 4.56) Saturday. Wofford has not named a starter for the series finale Sunday.

Following the series with Wofford, UNCG will close the regular season next weekend with a three-game series against The Citadel at Riley Park - the site of this year’s Southern Conference Baseball Championship.
