Baseball Adds Bryant Stafford For 2015 Campaign
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bryant Stafford (Goldsboro, N.C./Southeastern Community College) has signed a national letter of intent to attend UNCG and play baseball for the Spartans according to an announcement Monday by head coach Link Jarrett. Stafford becomes the 11th member of the Spartans’ 2014 recruiting class.
“Bryant was a much-needed addition to our pitching staff,” Jarrett said. “He will add left-handed depth as well as a veteran presence to our staff. Bryant is an athlete on the mound that has had great success in his two years at Southeastern.”
Stafford is 7-0 overall and has thrown six complete games this season as a sophomore for Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, N.C. He has struck out 58 batters in 57 innings pitched and averages over nine strikeouts per nine innings. Stafford was invited to play in the North Carolina Powerade State Games each of the last three years of his prep career and helped lead the Falcons to the 2012 3A state championship series. He also competed for the Dirtbags Baseball Club for three seasons under head coach Andy Partin.
As a senior, Stafford tallied a 1.79 ERA and struck out 87 batters in 66.1 innings while picking up five wins and a save as Aycock finished the season 21-11 and advanced to the state championship series.
