GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG senior infielder Sean Guite (Huntington Beach, Calif./Irvine Valley CC) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District III First Team according to an announcement Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Guite currently boasts a 3.40 GPA as a sociology major.

Thanks to his recognition on the district first team, Guite is now eligible for selection to the Capital One Academic All-America Team.

Guite leads UNCG in batting average and ranks second in the Southern Conference with a .401 batting average. He also places inside the top five in the league in hits, runs scored and on base percentage. On a national scale, Guite is 15th in runs scored per game, 22nd in batting average, 34th in runs scored and 38th in hits.

This season, Guite owns 18 multiple-hit performances while he also put together a 13-game hitting streak from March 9 to April 12. In a March 15 contest against Princeton, Guite tied a program single-game record with six hits while also tallying five runs scored, two doubles and two triples.

Since 1952, CoSIDA has honored more than 20,000 outstanding student-athletes. The program used to select teams from just two divisions -- the University Division, comprised of Division I schools; and the College Division, which included Division II, Division III, NAIA schools, and 2-year colleges. To better honor the diversity of collegiate talent, however, the program was expanded in 2011 to include four divisions: Division I, Division II, Division III, and the College division that includes NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian schools.
