GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG baseball team visited Brenner Children’s Hospital Monday, culminating a successful weekend of raising childhood cancer awareness in the Greensboro community.
Members of the squad were able to visit the facility during the afternoon and interact with patients and staff. The Spartans also presented a check worth $4,516 to Brenner with the money having been raised by the players throughout the season.
Following Sunday’s series finale against Elon, the team shaved their heads in support of the Vs. Cancer Foundation. The founder, Chase Jones, was on hand for the game.
The Vs. Cancer Foundation, based out of Raleigh, N.C., is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving kids’ lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts.
