Menís Tennis Completes Action at Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNCG men’s tennis team finished the final day at the Wake Forest Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.

In singles action, senior Ahmet Sarioglu (Ankara, Turkey/METU Development Foundation) fell in straight sets to UNCW’s Sam Williams, 6-0,6-1 in the A-1 singles bracket consolation finals.  

Sophomore Cameron Smith (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) lost a tough three set match against Nolan Bauer (Wake Forest), 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7).

Senior Jimmy Roueche (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) dropped a match against Egon Samaii (Liberty), 6-4, 6-2, in the C-2 singles bracket third place contest. Sophomore James Flynn (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) fell to Liberty’s Carson Greve, 6-1, 6-2.

Freshman Nazhone Wilkins picked up his first collegiate victory against Lenior-Rhyne’s Filip Dobrosavljevic, 6-0, 6-0 in a consolation match.

In doubles play, junior Randy Phillips (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) and Smith dropped a consolation match against Pello/Zyhmantovich (NSU), 8-3.
