Hathcock named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG sophomore Dylan Hathcock has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for May 2-8, the league office announced Wednesday. 

Hathcock earned a no-decision on Saturday against SoCon-leading Appalachian State in five innings of work as he allowed one run on six hits and three walks while striking out one. He accumulated an ERA of 1.80 during his outing. 

He is the third Spartan to earn the honor during the 2011-2012 campaign. UNCG has taken the honor in back-to-back weeks and is only third school at accomplish the feat this academic year as Appalachian State did so on Jan. 11 and Jan 18 and Wofford did it on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14.

Hathcock, who has a 3.33 grade point average and is majoring in pre-business administration, leads the Southern Conference in fewest runs allowed with 23 on the season and sits 10th in the conference with a 3.53 ERA.
